The Museum of Tales and Stories invites you to come discover and learn about the art of kamishibai, who contributed to the development of Japanese animation!

Le kamishibaï, compound word of “Kami” (paper) and “shibai” (théâtre), allie illustration et narration. It appeared in Japan, there are about d & rsquo; a century, à la fin des années 1920. Street vendors crisscrossed Japanese cities on their bicycles and stopped on street corners. On the door- luggage of their bike, on top of a large box, there was a wooden frame in which they placed a series of illustrated boards one after the other while telling stories.

It was a real communication phenomenon, imagine instead: nearly a million children crowded the street corners, just in Tokyo and just as much in other cities in Japan, to listen, episodes of their favorite stories, en images!

During the 17th edition of Japan Impact, you are invited by the Museum of Tales and Stories to try reading a selection of kamishibaïs brought from Japan: des contes, légendes et autres récits inventés, around the theme of animals.

All public over 6 month!

Welcome everyone to introduce you to this art! 🎭
